As part of Vattenfall¡¯s strategy to make fossil fuel-free living possible in Sweden within a single generation, the company is installing electric vehicle chargers across the country. ABB technology ensures the stations provide the reliability drivers need and the durability demanded by Sweden¡¯s harsh winter conditions.

Frank Muehlon, Head of ABB¡¯s global business for E-Mobility Infrastructure Solutions said: ¡°For e-mobility to flourish, drivers need fast-charging stations with a reliable power supply connection. ABB¡¯s ability to provide this as an end-to-end solution is why we are the leading name in electric vehicle charging and is a key factor in our work for Vattenfall. The strength of our technical support and our ability to deliver against very short time frames places ABB ahead of the competition.¡±

Björn Öster, Public Charging Manager at Vattenfall e-mobility Nordic, said: ¡°Vattenfall and ABB have a long history of collaboration. Together we have a proven track-record for a turn-key solution in bringing fast chargers to the public EV market - ABB delivers our hardware and grid connection equipment and we install and connect it to the public network InCharge making it possible for the EV driver to find and use it in a smooth way¡±.

Vattenfall is using ABB¡¯s DC 50kW Terra fast-charging station, which provides a fast charge on the go for the most common battery sizes within 30 to 45 minutes. The ABB Terra uses open standards to offer a future-proof connection as well as remote monitoring and remote assistance functions via the ABB AbilityTM platform.

The reliable performance of ABB¡¯s solutions makes it the go-to supplier for outdoor power. ABB¡¯s complete power distribution solution gives public EV charging stations the reliable grid connection they need. The solution comprises a robust outdoor cabinet, busbars, fusegear and switches, all specifically designed to meet the demands of outdoor environments.

The grid connection solution was tested and verified complete as a system, fulfilling regulatory requirements for power distribution in public networks and comes fully assembled from ABB¡¯s advanced manufacturing facility in Alingsås, Sweden. It provides a safe, intelligent connection to the public power grid, ensuring the charging stations provide a reliable service to drivers throughout their lifetime. The fully assembled grid connection solution for EV chargers also minimizes the commissioning time at sites, speeding up delivery for short project lead times.

It was finished in a customer-specified shade to match the EV charger and also incorporates a dedicated space for a billing meter.
